A composite front-end carrier originally developed for the Volkswagen (VW) Golf VII is now being employed in the carmaker's Passat and Sharan models. The component is made from a highly reinforced polyamide (PA) - called Ultramid B3WG8 - from BASF of Ludwigshafen, Gennany, and is produced by VW in-house.
