The spot price for east coast Sumatra Indonesia palm kernel shell (PKS) fell by $1.22/t on the week to $110.28/t on Wednesday, as PKS suppliers look to compete with cheaper Japanese wood chip supply. Japanese PKS buyers, particularly smaller-scale biomass power plants, held their tentative bids below $110/t in the week. Japan’s domestic wood chip supply has increased in recent weeks, competing with other fuels, and weighing on spot PKS bid and ofer ranges.
