Venezuela’s state-owned PdV is making a fnal push to retain its lease at Cura- cao’s 320,000 b/d Isla refnery before it expires at the end of this year. Venezuelan oil minister and PdV chief executive Manuel Quevedo met the Dutch-controlled island’s prime minister, Eugene Rhuggenaath, on 22 July. They discussed a number of topics, including the possibility of PdV staying on as Isla’s operator after 2019. Quevedo also provided assurances that PdV would do every- thing in its power to guarantee the salaries of employees at the facility until the end of December. The meeting did not include executives from Curacao’s state- owned RdK, the holding company for the facility.
