Sharp declines in gasoline and diesel prices failed to spur a signifcant rise in exports, leaving a glut of available tankers in the Gulf of Mexico. Prices came under pressure from a massive 15mn bl build in US product stocks, comprising mostly gasoline and distillates. The Gulf coast region alone accounted for increases of more than 2mn bl each in gasoline and diesel invento- ries, EIA data show, as port closures resulting from Hurricane Barry earlier in the month limited exports.
