Natural gas suppliers are increasingly looking to southern Brazil as a potential market with signifi cant untapped demand,resulting in a fl urry of initiatives.The operator of the cross-border Gasbol pipeline,TBG,has identifi ed additional demand in the south of the country of up to 4mn m~3/d and is working on a project to boost capacity on the line to access the market,although the upgrade will take around three years."There is signifi cant residential and industrial gas demand in southern Brazil,but supply is insuffi cient,"the chief executive of US-Norwegian venture Golar Power,Eduardo Antonello,says."By the time Bolivian gas [is meant to reach] Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul,most of it has already been consumed."
