An Argentinian renewable energy auction seeking 300MW of power has received 52 bids. The tender is targeting smaller plants partly to open up the market to newcomers, the energy secretariat says. Wind and solar projects bid at an average price of $57.90/MWh and $58.20/MWh, respectively, just below the $60/MWh ceiling. Bids from biomass projects aver- aged $106.10/MWh, with the threshold at $110/MWh. Biogas and small hydroelectric projects bid at $159/MWh and $103.60/MWh, close to their ceilings of $160/MWh and $105/MWh. The winners should be announced by the beginning of August.
