German energy companies Eon, RWE and Innogy have reached an agreement in principle that practically ensures there will be no redundancies for operational reasons when Eon takes over part of the Innogy business. The agreement came as the three firms held talks with German trade unions ver.di and IG Bce. Eon and RWE agreed that the deal, which will see two of Germany’s biggest energy firms swap business areas in a wide-ranging agreement, will have no impact on existing rules on salaries and working conditions for now, ver.di and IG BCE say. The firms agreed to begin bilateral negotiations with the aim of standardising contractual and wage regulations for employees in time for the launch of the integration process of various business areas.
