摘要

We read the survey on implementation of CT colonog-raphy (CTC) in Sweden (1) with interest. The evidence for CTC in preference to double contrast barium enema (DCBE) is compelling and we share the view of 93% of Swedish radiology departments, that routine DCBE will gradually be replaced by CTC. The trend to increasing use of CTC in Sweden is exactly what we have observed in our high-volume colorectal unit in the UK. Since its introduction in our hospital in 2002, the numbers of CTC performed each year have increased steadily (a 13-fold increase between 2002 and 2009, P< 0.0001). This trend has mirrored a dramatic decline in the numbers of DCBE performed (fivefold reduction, P<0.0001) (Fig. 1).
