The celebration of 3rd International Coffee Day was X organized by the Extension Wing, Coffee Board, Wayanad,Keralaregionon05thOctober2017atChandragiri auditorium, Kalpetta in association with the research wing of RCRS, Chundale. Exhibition stalls of three firms were setup exhibiting different value added products of coffee, fertilizer products etc as part of the celebration. A total number of 460 participants representing different stake holders of the coffee industry viz., growers, representatives of Wayanad Coffee Growers Association, coffee traders, curers and Kudumbasree members attended the function. Firstly, the Wayanad District Collector Mr. S. Suhas, IAS, the chief guest of the programme formally inaugurated the celebration and visited all the stalls. Thereafter the celebration started with welcome address by the Deputy Director (Ext.), Coffee Board, Kalpetta. Mr. S. Suhas, IAS, District Collector inaugurated the celebration by lighting the traditional lamp. In his inaugural address he stressed the promotion of Wayanad coffee in its production as well as consumption. He was also enthusiastic to know about the problems of the grower being a person from the coffee growing area of Karnataka. The District Collector also promised to extend his maximum possible support to the coffee industry of the district. The Deputy Director (Res.), RCRS, Chundale in her key note address informed the audience regarding history of celebration of International Coffee Day around the world and the importance in promoting the beverage.
