The World Trade Organization's systemic issues won't be solved by the next ministerial conference in June 2020, the international body's deputy director-general said Wednesday - but 2025 is a "not unreasonable" deadline for a reformed WTO. In a speech to the 2019 Paris Peace Forum, Alan Wolff sketched out the framework for what he called a reformed "WTO 2.0" he believes could be established by MC15 in 2025, a vision that incorporates solutions to some U.S. issues with the WTO, including concerns about dispute settlement and development, according to a copy of his remarks.
