摘要

Researchers in industries and academia have long focused on designing cross-sectional shapes that improve the strength while maintaining a low weight. This issue is more urgent when a closed cross-section needs to be changed to an open cross-section. This paper proposes a method for maximizing the average strength of several cross-sectional shapes with a weight limit by using the D-optimal design of experiments (DOE), which is favorable for response surface design, and the genetic algorithm (GA), which is favorable for global searches.
