A field experiment was on influence of sowing time on yield of urdbean at Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Lam during rabi, 2017 in collaboration with ANGRAU, Guntur. To evaluate the split-plot design under different sowing dates and different genotypes on productivity of urdbean under field conditions. Dates of sowing were taken as main plot treatments and different genotypes were taken as subplot treatments and replicated thrice. The treatments comprised of four dates (15th September,1 st October, 15th October and 1 st November) of sowing and four varieties (LBG-752, TBG-104, GBG-1 and LBG-787). The results indicated that, the significantly taller plants (47.7cm) were observed when the crop sown on 1* October than later dates of sowing. Similarly, the maximum grain yield (1086 kg ha1) was registered with same date of sowing i.e. on 1st October than other dates of sowings. Among the varieties tested the maximum grain yield (1100 kg ha-1) was recorded with GBG 1 and it was significantly superior over rest of the varieties (LBG752 and LBG787) when the crop sown on 1st October than later dates of sowing. So it was found that early sown crop performed better than late sown crop.
