摘要

The paper deals with reliability and profit function analysis of a two identical units cold standby system with three possible modes of the unit - normal (A7), partial failure (P) and total failure (F). A unit can't enter into F-mode without passing through the /'-mode. The preference in operation is always being given to a unit available in A-mode. A single repairman is always available with the system to repair a failed unit in either mode and repair unit works as good as new after repair from either mode. The online repair of /'-unit is not possible. The failure and repair times of a unit are taken as independent random variables of discrete nature having geometric distributions with different parameters.
