Paddy crop management system is significant in Malaysia's agriculture. Paddy contributes to the country's economy and rice supply for the people. Good and systematic management is important in paddy crop production for enabling farmers, engineers, and contractors in playing their part in the paddy ecosystem. In paddy crop fertilizer application, a lot of automated work is practiced using machines and software tools including capturing images of paddy field to the fertilizer calculation. A fertilizer treatment map is an image file that is produced to enable farmers applying the fertilizer to the paddy field. The complexity and involvement of many processes in producing a fertilizer treatment map causes a lot of time is spent thus can cause the variability in paddy field to change over time. Variability factors such as growth rate, greenness of paddy leaves, and soil condition may change within the time spent to manage the paddy field, send and share image files, and calculate the amount of fertilizer. Therefore, this paper analyzes and designs a system that can simplify the work of engineers, farmers, and contractors in managing paddy granary fields across Malaysia. A standalone software which functions to calculate and produce treatment map has already been developed to overcome the problem of complexity faced by engineers. The web-based system is designed to be integrated with the fertilizer calculation software using the latest open source web-based technologies. The result of implementing the web-based system in managing paddy crop has shown improvements in the country's agriculture technology in terms of simplicity and efficiency especially in paddy fertilizer application.
