This paper reports the evaluation of new model direct dyes from nongenotoxic diamines in which 2,2'-dimethyl-5,5'-dipropoxybenzidine and 5,5'-dipropoxybenzidine are employed as potential alternatives to benzidine.The wash fastness,the light fastness,the sweat fastness and the degree and rate of dye exhaustion were determined.Test methods and spectral data for dyes [FTIR and FTR spectra] were determined.Several of the new dyes show good sorption values for cotton cellulose.
