One of a series of books on sustainable production of crops and farm animals, this is a history of agricultural pesticides with emphasis on their commercial production.The author refers to three phases - the Pre-Production Period from 2500 BC to 1929 AD, the Productivist Period from 1930 to 1973 and Residual Productivism from 1974 to 2017. The last period is covered in five chapters, the last of which refers to the pesticide industry under the 'Sustainability Paradigm'. The 8th chapter looks at the future of pesticides and biotechnologies.
