Feasibility Kinetic Study of Organic Pollutant Adsorption Using Graphene-TNT for Food Wastewater Treatment

This study provided a first attempt of a process dynamic perspective to put forward with considering the effect of stirring, in general terms and explanations, model evaluation of food wastewater treatment via adsorption of graphene loaded titanium nanotube (graphene-TNT). The findings showed that the stirring application has no effect on the adsorption of organic pollution at low-concentration and medium-concentrations. However, the stirring rate was linearly correlated with the adsorption efficiency at high-concentration condition. The adsorption equilibrium revealed that graphene-TNT could uptake ca. 111 mg COD/g catalyst predicted by Langmuir isotherm model. Plus, adsorption-desorption models were proposed to describe transient dynamics of adsorption, indicating a promising applicability for similar system evaluation. Our assessment indicated that using graphene-TNT as an adsorbent for organic-adsorption of food wastewater was technically-feasible, in particular, for the treatment of municipal wastewater.
