Hotel waste composting by biomineralizer for the production of bio-organic Fertilizer

摘要

The principal scope of the composting process is to transform organic wastes of various origins and nature into a stable, mature, humus-like material suitable for use as soil amendment. The present investigation has been focused to study the feasibility of static pile composting process used to treat hotel waste by using biomineralizer. The variations in physico-chemical parameters had been monitored throughout the process of 30 days period at regular intervals. The results showed that all the parameters of the final product (i.e. bio-organic fertilizers obtained from hotel waste) were comparable with the recommended standards of Fertilizer (Control) Order 1985 specifications for city compost published by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Government of India. The pH was almost near to neutral values; temperature almost reached ambient levels and C/N ratios were below 20. Even the phytotoxicity test of bio-organic fertilizers as germination index (GI) was evaluated which showed that GIvalues were more than 80 percent which accounts for safe use of compost on soils.
