Congratulations on your new role Mariane-la. You take the helm of AEBE at a time turbulent time for Ecuador's banana industry. What priorities have you set yourself for the first few months in thejob?Marianela Ubilla: Indeed, the banana industry is going through a difficult time with the expansion of TFU to Latin America and now Covid-19. We had already ramped up biosecurity measures to prevent TR4 from entering Ecuador when, at the beginning of 2020the world wasunexpectedly hit by Covid-ig. The sector wasted no time in activating contingency plans along every link of the supply chain - some with more difficulty than others - and fortunately were able to keep producing and exporting even through the most difficult times. A large part of this was down to improved coordination within the industry through the creation of the so-called banana cluster, which unites AEBE with grower-exporter associations Acorbanec and Agroban, as well as the local Chamber of Industry.
