Peru has emerged as a huge force in global fresh produce production in the last decade, becoming a key supplier of citrus, grapes, mangoes, avocados, blueberries and asparagus, among many other products, to markets around the world within this relatively short period of time.The value of Peru's fresh fruit and vegetable exports more than tripled between 2012 and 2019, according to exporter groups Adex and Agap figures, rising from US$i.3bn (Agap) to US$4.7bn (Adex) last year. Meanwhile, back in 2018, the World Bank estimated that the country's horticulture sector contributed at least 11.3 per cent to Peru's GDP.
