Taxonomic Theory for Nonclassical Systematics

摘要

A possible method for constructing a general taxonomic theory for biological systematics considered in the context of nonclassical scientific paradigm is described. The need for such a theory is substantiated, and several key points in its construction are emphasized, including the interpretation of this theory as a framework concept for partial taxonomic theories elaborated in different schools of systematics; the establishment of the concepts of cognitive situation, which comprises three interconnected components, i.e., subject-based, object-based, and epistemic; its construction as a meaningfully interpreted quasi-axiomatics with a distinct structure of the conceptual space, including the demarcation of axioms and inference rules; its con-strualas a conceptual pyramid of concepts of various levels of generality; and the addition of the basic model to the definition of a taxonomic system (classification) that makes up its content. Two problems are considered to be fundamental, i.e., defining taxonomic diversity as a subject domain for systematics as a whole and defining the onto-epistemological status of the taxonomic system (classification) in general and of taxa in particular.
