On 10 February, the White House released the President's budget request for fiscal year (FY) 2021. The request isn't binding to Congress, which ultimately holds the nation's budgetary purse strings, but is seen as one of the ways the executive branch outlines its priorities for the upcoming year. The administration's request proposed a budget of US$12.8 billion for the Department of the Interior (DOI) for FY 2021, of which US$971.2 million would go to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
