ARGENTINA'S glacier protection law that was put in place in 2010 was upheld by the nation's Supreme Court, which rejected a challenge from Barrick Gold Corp. to have the law declared unconstitutional. Barrick challenged the law, arguing that the 2010 law could affect its projects near glacial areas in Argentina. But Argentina's Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, said Barrick had not proved that the law curbing mining on and around the country's glaciers to protect water supplies caused any damage to the company.
