ON DEC. 6, Joe Balash, assistant secretary of land and minerals management for the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), told attendees of the American Exploration & Mining Association's annual conference that the DOI had released final drafts of proposed revisions to Obama-era greater sage grouse conservation plans. The revisions suggest removing hundreds of thousands of acres of federally protected habitat in Utah, and easing restrictions on energy development and other activities in Colorado, Idaho and Wyoming.
