During theCovid-19 pandemic,many planningpermissions willhave been due toexpire without theability for developers tocommence them due tolockdown conditions. To remedythis situation, amendments havebeen inserted into the Town andCountry Planning Act 1990 viathe Business and Planning Act2020 (2020 Act), which receivedroyal assent on 22 July 2020.The act inserts, among otherprovisions, sections 93A-F intothe Town and Country PlanningAct 1990 to provide the ability toextend the life of planningpermissions (see table). Thesesections enter into force on19?August 2020.
