The new ammonite genus Neopetitclercia is extremely rare and hitherto only known by a single incomplete but otherwise well-preserved oxyconic macroconch and a corresponding sphaeroconic microconch, both from the lower Kimmeridgian (Hauffianum Subzone, bauhini Horizon) of the Swabian Alb. Due to its stratigraphically and geographically isolated occurrence we can only speculate about the exact phylogenetic relationships of this enigmatic genus; but undoubtedly it is an offshoot of Strigoceratidae. Possibly closely related taxa are Petitclercia ROLLIER, 1909 and Oxydiscites DACQUE, 1934.
