Many of the rubber conferences over the years have been discussing the vital issue of the future sustainability of the rubber plantation industry. However, a concerted effort towards achieving this goal, involving all the stakeholders, still remains a far cry. In fact, the crisis in the rubber plantation industry persists with farmers continuing to reel under disturbing ups and downs in prices, lack of adequate government support, labour shortage, vagaries of weather and many more.
