When the Chair of the RSFS Publications Committee, Simon Blackett, phoned in December 2016 to discuss the Editor's report to the Board, I mentioned that, although in the middle of Glasgow, I was standing under trees collecting leaves. I explained howthis fitted into an art module and he said "Write it up for the journal". So this is about trees influencing my artwork in the third year of the Contemporary Art Practice course.

The collaborations analysed span academia, civil society and government, from the grassroots to the national and global levels. By locating these examples within the broader debates on interactions between researchers and research users designed to strengthen evidence informed decision making, this publication offers concepts and practices to inform those funding, designing and undertaking development research. The featured case studies are explored through the perspectives of both researchers and their partners in civil society and policy.
