Visit to Dunglass Estate, 4 July 2017On a rather dreich July morning approximately 30 intrepid souls gathered in the Dairy House on Dunglass estate. Here we were met by current owner Simon Usher, and Ewan Harris representing Savills who are agents for the woodland management on the estate.The preliminary scene setting was done in the dry with Simon explaining he was the fourth generation of the Usher family at Dunglass since the estate was bought from the Hall family in 1919. The current woodland cover on the estate is around 400 acres (lOOha) centred mainly around the deans created by the Dunglass, Oldhamstocks and Ogle burns. There are plans however to extend the woodland by about another 20ha. The estate runs hospitality events including weddings on site and there is also a keen sporting interest in the estate management.
