North Region has had an extremely positive year activity wise. The Spring meeting to Foulis Estate, Evanton, and Dingwall Sawmill, on an arctic April day, drew 29 members. Over 47 attended the Glenfeshie meet in June (see page 16), indeed numbers hadto be restricted, and the event may be repeated in the foreseeable future. Our final meet on 19 September to our new North Region Secretary's Tombain Wood near Grantown-on-Spey in the morning, and Strathspey Estates in the afternoon, drew 18. Of particular encouragement has been the presence of the younger contingent of employed foresters, notably from the forest management companies, individual forestry advisers, and indeed EC Alice Holt. For over 163 years the Society has served the industry well, theprinciples and objectives of the organisation applying equally to the active forester, both state and private, as to those retired.
