The Nuisance-free Vegetable Development Project (NVDP), co-funded by the World Bank and Changsha government, started as an international research project in November 2003. It aims to reconstruct the main vegetable production base of Changsha County and to promote Hunan's traditional industry by 5 years' work (2003—2007). The project will establish a 666.67 ha around vegetable production base and a 10423 m~2 factory for vegetable hydroponics, with a set of fertilization testing equipment and a quick-testing equipment for vegetable pesticide residues. The overall investment of the project is 32.868 million yuan. It is predicted that about 76.818 million kg nuisance-free vegetable (AA degree) will be produced per year.
