Reimold (2019) attempts to discuss the issue of "geovandalism" in regards to our sampling practice. We acknowledge that indiscriminate sampling can seriously damage or even ruin classical outcrops, and many such cases have been well documented in geological literature. However, this is not a valid or reasonable criticism of our work, and furthermore, it appears that Reimold is attempting to prevent other researchers from sampling in Vredefort, while he and his co-authors are apparently not hesitant when taking samples for their own studies (Figure 1).
