Glance at a star map that highlights bright deep-sky objects and your eye will almost certainly be drawn to a remarkable line of galaxies that straddles the meridian on May evenings. Stretching almost 40° from Draco to Coma Berenices, a string of 10th- and 11th-magnitude galaxies hugs the imaginary line that demarcates 12 hours of right ascension. This majestic cascade bears some of the best observing targets in the spring sky.
