The Nordic Council has agreed that the Nordic governments should report on the opportunities for tightening regulations for the labelling of products containing genetically modified organisms. The Council consists of the northern European countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The decision has been arrived at as the Council feels that the use of GMOs in food and feed is "partially regulated" by the EU. Food made from GMOs is labelled but food such as eggs, meat and milk from animals that have eaten feed containing GM material is not labelled.
