The Spanish crackdown on illegal pesticide sales has led to the arrest of 12 pesticide distribution centre owners in the past two months, the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA) says. The country's environmental protection law agency, the Seprona, and regional authorities from Andalusia, inspected nearly 100 pesticide retail and warehouse establishments from October to December. They discovered almost 5 tonnes and 2,200 litres of illegal pesticides. They included products that were considered unsafe for the environment and human health, the ECPA says. The raids resulted in 92 charges of illegal selling.
