摘要

Two-thirds of the cotton, maize and soybean areas in Brazil have been planted with genetically modified crops, according to national news reports. That is the finding of the market consultancy Celeres, which shows the national GM crop area for 2010/11 to be up to 25 million ha. The Celeres survey findings are particularly notable for soybeans, as three-quarters of the crop is made up of GMOs, while GM cotton covers a quarter of the crop area. The study follows findings from earlier in the planting season that three out of four bags of maize and soybean seed that had been sold in the state of Parana were of GM lines (Agrow No 604, p 17).
