One only has to attend a local or national gathering on information literacy to recognize that librarians have a long history of being mindful and intentional of incorporating new and emerging learning strategies, transitioning the one-shot instructional session from pedantic demonstration to active participation, and embracing reflective and adaptive practices. Berrio Matamoros’ comprehensive and pragmatic book adds to this field of literature by challenging and informing librarians to not only teach to a variety of learning styles, but to foster environments that prioritize student choice when interacting with course material, navigating the steps of learning from introduction to understanding, and creating artifacts that demonstrate mastery. While the tools will not necessarily be new for many, the integration and thorough approach grants readers a fuller understanding of the learning process while specifically connecting it to information literacy.
