Chinese chemical company Jiangsu Changqing Agrochemical plans to invest Yuan 69.4 million ($11 million at the current rate) on a 2,000 tonnes/year production line for the herbicide, dicamba. Construction on the dicamba project is to begin this month and work is expected to be completed by April next year. Jiangsu Changqing notes that global demand for dicamba has risen in recent years, to a total annual figure of 20,000 tonnes. Chinese dicamba prices have also risen, from Yuan 100,000/ tonne ($16,000/tonne) last year to the present level of Yuan 120,000/tonne ($19,000/tonne). The company believes the active ingredient to have "good future prospects".
