To data sources are many and their analysis in isolation may not give the correct information of the combined effect of all the data available. There are many applications where data from different sources are combined in one sample as in the case of medical field where meta-analysis is carried out in which many clinical trials are combined for single analysis. In the Department of Defense (DoD) data are collected at various phases of tests. One of the primary tasks is to combine the data from various sources and facilitate data sharing among various testing agencies. However not many studies have been undertaken to highlight the benefits of combining information. There are many difficulties in combining these data sets as they are generated by different types of test environments. Reliability is the probability that a system will perform its intended function under appropriate operating conditions for a specified period of time. It is an essential component in the assessment of the operational suitability of many major defense systems. The current analyses employed by Director, Operational Test & Evaluation and many of the services' operational test agencies use only operational test data in assessing operational reliability. Operational test data are collected under a limited set of test conditions. Using only operational test data ensures that the results will be representative of the reliability under in the field condition. However, valuable information from previous testing on system reliability are ignored in this process. This paper explores both frequentist and Bayesian inference techniques to combine information for the Stryker family of vehicles (FOV) from two test phases: the developmental test phase and the operational test phase.
