Brazil has confirmed the approval for sale and planting of Syngenta's genetically modrfled corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis)-resistant Agrisure TL (Bt11) maize. The national technical commission for biosafety, the CTNBio, gave Syngenta's maize the provisional green light last year (Agrow No 529, p 22) and the 11-Ministry national biosafety council, the CNBS, ratified it this month. Director of research and development at Syngenta, Ademir Capelaro, says that the approval puts Brazil in line with the global market.
