The Brazilian Senate's agriculture commission has approved draft legislation that aims to "stimulate the production of generic pesticides". The bill would reform the present Pesticides Act. Senator Waldemir Moka, who presented the bill, believes the legislation would lead to greater production of generic pesticides in Brazil and, through competition, lower food prices.
