EU member states have once again been unable to reach a qualified majority vote on whether to accept or reject European Commission proposals to approve the import of genetically modified crops. Votes were taken by the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health in February on three stacked-trait in sect-resistant and herbicide-tolerant maize lines. One consists of Dow AgroSciences/DuPont's Herculex traits, 59122 and 1507 (Herculex XTRA), while a second line combines these two traits with Monsanto's NK603. The third line combines Monsanto's M0N88017 (YieldGard VT Rootworm/RR2) with its long-established MON810 line.
