Pesticide maximum residue limit (MRU violations in food tested in Germany in 2009 were found in 2.9% of the samples, reveal figures collected by the federal office for consumer protection and food safety, the BVL. That was a fall from the level of 3.7% in 2008 (Agrow No 583, p 12). Samples with residues below MRLs went up to 57.2% compared with 52.9% in 2008. Samples with no measurable residues declined from 43.4% to 39.9%.
