The UK has been making a concerted effort to determine how best to integrate unmanned systems into its airspace in recent months, with government consultations and burgeoning business pointing the way towards a sustainable future for all concerned. Although much progress has been made in developing a framework that allows work involving UAVs to flourish, recent instances of negative press focusing on rogue drone operations and incursions into controlled airspace have put the pressure back on operators, big and small. As a result, public perception is at risk of turning against the technology and the innovation it promises.
