US Army Futures Command (AFC) has been spending much of its time trying to turn cutting-edge unmanned system concepts into reality, according to the command's leader, GEN John M Murray. AFC began its formation in 2018 with a view to speed up the development and fielding of new equipment. Recent experiments have involved using unmanned vehicles to neutralise a simulated minefield, conducting chemical reconnaissance autonomously and launching a drone from a Black Hawk helicopter, according to Murray.
