The US Army has downplayed concerns that an OEM involved in the service's Future Tactical Unmanned Aerial System (FTUAS) programme could force other aircraft to be ineligible for any final contract selection. Due to L3Harris Technologies holding software and licensing authority covering hybrid flight kits for Textron AAI's Aerosonde and Arcturus UAV, any future decision from the rights holder not to support software upgrades could prevent the use of each platform or associated technology, a source close to the situation explained.
