The German authorities have approved the unlimited commercial cultivation of Monsanto's genetically modified insect-resistant MON810 maize.The Bt corn borer-resistant maize has been approved at EU level since 1998 and is grown in Spain and France(Agrow No 456,p I I).For the last few years,only limited cultivation has been permitted in Germany(Agrow No 467,p 12).Some 300 ha were grown in 2005 and the latest approval will finally make Monsanto's technology available to all farmers,says Ursula Luettmer Ouazane of Monsanto Germany.
