Paraprofessional as defined by dictionary.com is a person to whom a particular aspect of a professional task is delegatedbut who is not licensed to practice as a fully qualified professional. In veterinary medicine, we have many paraprofession-als. Veterinary Assistants, Certified Veterinary Assistants (CVAs), Equine Dental Providers (EDPs) and Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) are the terms listed in the veterinary practice act. Within a practice, you also have receptionists, kennel assistants, barn managers, grooms and a host of others who serve veterinary medicine as paraprofessionals.
