An early start to the European season resulted in significantly better first-quarter results for Dow AgroSciences than expected.Sales for the three-month period were up by 7.8% to a record 1,036 million.The increase was largely due to volume growth (+7%),while price rises made up about I %.Pre-tax earnings were up by 30.6% to 282 million due to higher sales and structural cost reductions.
