The Dutch agrochemical industry association,Nefyto,has urged the European Parliament to reconsider the proposed changes to EU agrochemical registration Directive(91/414).It has urged the EU not to apply stricter criteria to agrochemicals than the ones that have been suggested for other chemicals under the new EU registration,evaluation and authorisation of chemicals(REACH)Regulation.It says that the proposed changes will not lead to safer food for consumers,but may have profound consequences on the ability to protect crops from damaging pests and plant diseases.
